This Thankful Season

You know I love this time of year! Just so much crispness in the fall! It is almost like we are getting ready for new life, the leaves turn from green to new beautiful vibrant colors, the blue sky is so blue and the clouds just pop. Fall is a time to be thankful for what God has blessed us with all year long. This is such a busy time of year also and the days just fly by and then the new year comes and we start over. There are so many things that I am thankful for that sometimes I just can' believe that God has given me. I have healthy children, a wonderful Godly husband, healthy parents who support me in decisions i have made, a wonderful job, a wonderful church family whom i have come to love dearly in just a short time, and my salvation, Rom 1:16 says For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. I hope that everyone i know takes the time this season and everyday to give thanks to God for the blessings he has given you.

The Fall

I just have to say that Fall is upon us once again, I think it is my favorite time of the year. Everything seems so clear and crisp!! I love the smell of wood burning fires and leaves crackling on the ground and the sight of pecans on the our tree in the front yard. It is football season too, so many games will be viewed through out this season on our tv. The beautiful colors of the leaves and taking rides to the mountains and SkyTop Apple Orchard. Trick or treating time will be here soon and Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner. Just love these days...

a wonderful recipe I wanted to share:
Apple Dumplings
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg, divided
1/4 cup butter or margarine
2/3 cup sugar
2 (15-ounce) packages refrigerated piecrusts
8 medium Braeburn apples, peeled and cored*
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, cut up
Vanilla ice cream (optional)
Preparation
Bring 1 1/2 cups sugar, 2 cups water, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring constantly; reduce heat, and simmer, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes. Remove from heat, and stir in 1/4 cup butter. Set syrup aside.

Combine 2/3 cup sugar, remaining 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and remaining 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg.

Cut piecrusts in half, and roll into 8-inch circles. Place 1 apple in center of each circle. Sprinkle each evenly with sugar mixture; dot evenly with 3 tablespoons butter.

Fold dough over apples, pinching to seal. Place in a lightly greased 13- x 9-inch baking dish. Drizzle with syrup.

Bake at 375° for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
